When I first got my truck, I immediatly ordered a KN 73 intake and a flowmaster delta 40 for the stock exhaust.

it sounds great, but I think it can sound a lot better.

so heres plan
all mandrel bent pipe. 2.25 on the y pipe, 3in on the tail pipe.

run the 2.25 from the flanges on the first cats/o2 pipe inward and down along the driveshaft, with a H-pipe/balance pipe as close to the flanges as possible.

both the two pipes along the driveshaft will shift over to the passenger side where they will go into a 2.25 to 3in y collector. this will keep the y-pipe section of the exhaust at equal lengths. This is important for both sound and power.

from the collector into a 3in center/center super40 flowmaster and 3in to the factory exit point with a 4 or 4.5 in tip.

heres the parts ill use.

3in pipe kit (oviously i wont need the whole kit to make a small single tail section, but Ill have enought left over to make a single 3in system for someone)

to be honest, it think it might be cheaper to just take it to an exhaust shop and have them do it. you are buying alot of materials that you probably wont use. also, the more welded joints, the more flow obstuctions. are you planning on keeping any of the cats?

honestly I would just get the Y pipe from URD bc its stanless, cheaper, and a much easier install. like jon said you are going to get alot more than you need on those kits and more work than you realize. the exhaust on our trucks is stainless and 2.5" already (plz correct me if im wrong) and that provides plenty of flow for a n/a setup.

I've got the URD Y-Pipe (2.25") and im perfectly happy that i chose that route for my exhaust. Does anyone happen to know if the JBA exhaust is 2.5" or 3"?

Is a URD Y-pipe, JBA Headers, and 18" Magnaflow setup too loud? I want my truck to roar...just not too loud:D

I see what you guys are saying, but my parts cost is about 550 total.

the URD y pipe and exhaust is more than that. and its not equal length.

yes its stainless, but a little high temp paint can give you the same corrosion resistance. but yes, stainless is better.

this setup is more for sound quality than performance, having the intermediate pipes equal length helps to give a crisper sound. This is more important when using chamber style mufflers like flowmaster.

I have built at least a half dozen exhaust systens using these kit. there madrel bent, which will beat any crush bent system anyday. And im a very experienced welder, inside obstruction should not be a problem.

I will use most of the 2.25 kit, but very little of the 3in, ill be using the rest of the 3 in to make a turbo back kit for my buddies 240sx

The URD y-pipe is 3"....I just changed my muffler this evening & it's a 3" inlet.

BTW, gotta almost new URD muffler for sale. It's a beauty & sounds real mean...was just too loud for me at lower rpm's.

I have it & would also agree. And it definitely adds a little power, which actually surprised me....I mean in that I could actually tell the diff.
