September 2012 : TOP RIDE
Bill's 2007 Black Sand Pearl X-Runner
The Story behind the Ride:
My first vehicle was a 1997 Tacoma 4x4. I naturally bought another Tacoma when it was time for an update in 2006. It was a new 4x4 TRD Sport Xtra cab BSP, I had plans to supercharge it from the beginning. Aftermarket parts were scarce, and no one had a supercharger system out for it. I purchased bolt on intake and exhaust for it. Then I joined a few Tacoma forums and found a new company, URD. Brain and G at the time came out with a supercharger system, the MKI and I had to have it. I bought it right away and let it sit in a box until 2007. Originally, I wanted to build a 4 wheel version of an X-Runner. 4x4 performance parts were moving slower and parts for the X-Runner were already available. I came over from Custom Tacos to XRU for info on forced induction and when I saw the pictures here I became extremely jealous. So I traded the 4x4 in and special ordered the lower, stiffer, lighter, better looking X-Runner. I wanted the right platform if I was going to tinker, and that’s all I do. Since Summer 2007 I’ve been buying, installing, and upgrading. 2 Short Shifters, 7 Exhausts, 2 Headers, 2 Suspensions, 2 Supercharger Kits, 2 X1’s, 2 clutch discs, and 3 audio swaps later I ended up where I am today. Almost done! XRU played a huge part in my addiction for parts, that’s right I said it… you people ;-). For me there’s just something indescribable about the exhilaration of acceleration, speed and pulling G’s around the corners of twisting back roads. Being unique and getting looks, recognition, and respect is just a nice extra. I’ve made a many good friends off this site and I’m grateful for all of the write-ups, ideas, and support you’ve provided over my Project X. If it wasn’t for the test dummies and guinea pigs around here, I surely would have had a difficult time doing thing right.
