Does it start on the first crank? Unlike the X-1:hmmmm2:

not sure why people are still having that issue with the X-1:hmmmm2: I never have an issue starting mine up.......NEVER!!

I'm anxious to see some data logs with the UCONN

So... lets say I've ordered 2 of your 3 supercharger kits and lots of other stuff from you. Any chance you could slip one out the door without the rest of the kit?

Yes, I think we can do that.

Not sure about the calibration file. We would have to convert it from X-1 to UCON and then do a good bit of data logging and tuning to get it dialed in.

It can be done over the Net, but would be quicker and easier if you wanted to take a drive down to URD.

There were a lot of problems with the start up of the X-1. Early on I was having explosions in my plenum on key on. It was blowing off all the vacuum lines and such. I had to keep popping the hood and reconnect all the different hoses and stuff after the smoke cleared. The power up strategy was changed to help make that better, but every once in blue moon it would still do it. This involved some physical jumpers that had to be added to the main PCB board.

The long cranking was to do with the sync strategy during the start. The early cals used would sync to the cam angle sensors and it would take a few revs before it could start. There was also a problem with them loosing sync while the engine was driving causing like a rapid reboot type effect which resulted in massive bucking while driving. Scott and I worked hard on this with the .04 cals and it was pretty much solved with .04XF. The start up sync strategy was changed from cam sync to an ignitor sync which was much more rapid. This allowed much better starts and greatly reduced the cam driver reset problem while driving.

The UCON uses a completely different startup and sync strategy with logic to completely eliminate the cam driver reset issue. The UCON starts are instant and explosion free.

^^^Well that's some great info right there! This is something I'd love to get someday after I get back on my feet. I don't have any issues with the X-1 other then the occosional start up and shuts right off by itself leaving some coil pack/misfire codes and the rare unseating issue of the X-1 itself.

So when the UCONN is released for individual sale ur gonna have cam gears and T-stat and housing to go with it and I can sell the X-1 as a complete unit with cam gears and T-stat and housing?

I see one of my recently paid-off credit cards being not so much paid-off anymore when I can buy one of these things...

But I was wondering the same thing...I may have missed it in a post somewhere but I guess the UCON will come with cam gears and a t-stat like the x-1 did too right?

I just had a thought.

If you got the Mk2 to Mk3 upgrade kit, I can ship that and a UCON out to you right away. I have Mk3 cals all done ready to go for the UCON.

Makes me wonder if the X1 caused those sensors to go bad over time.:hmmmm2: How many miles do you have it? If all the sensors were bad, how was it running?

Don't know if all the sensors were bad or not, but do know there was one front and one rear and one spark plug that was bad, so just put all new ones in and it purrs like a kitten now.

I know that I had replaced all of my sensors once and the Wraf sensors twice, while I had the X-1. :/

I'm gonna blame the fact that fuel gets estimated four foyr cylinders with the x-1 and I did not forget your data log that i owe you possibly today I can get a hold of catsup and he can run with me quick the truck is running absolutely phenominal and as soon as the fine tuning is done I will get you guys a 40-90

Ha popped my hood last night after noticing no boost and saw the blower belt was missing! Gotta get some new 40-90 pulls on video or data logs myself

To have the X-1 or UCONN not guess fuel for 4 of the cylinders u would need a WRAF in every runner correct? Or does the UCONN do a better job at figuring that out?

The X-1 did not sample all of the injectors, just a couple of them. Then it had a very complex logic function that would estimate where the injector pulse edges should be and fire the injectors based on that estimation.

Seems pretty high tech, but in the end a simpler approach where all the OEM injectors are sensed/tracked seems to work much better. The other issue was that the OEM ECU would send multiple injector pulses per cycle under some conditions and those were being missed all together. The UCON picks that up in tracking mode. In the end the drivability and overall smoothness is greatly improved. It just works better.
