swap want to do a engine swap and I want to try and get to 7 or 8 hundred HP. Question is what would be a good route to go as far as a engine, I was thinking a ls3 or a 2jz build. Whould it be easier for the 2jz or the ls3? Would my towing ability be affected by either one of these engines? I'm looking to sell my setup I have now to help finance this swap so that would be my engine, urd c38/91 stage 3 supercharger set up with 800cc injectors, doug thorley headers, an ipt built transmission that is a couple months old and whatever else I can get rid of from the swap. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Honestly your best/cheapest option is to pick up a 5.3 and put a turbo kit on it. If you do some searching you can find a 5.3 from a Chevy Silverado for probably less than 500$ And with some fabricating skills and a little welding you can push 800-1000hp very easy and probably for under 5000$ The transmission will be the hardest part though. A lot of he guys blow up he 4l80es at 1000hps and t56s take some $$ to hold that much. If you have any questions though there are a few of us on here that can help with the ls swap.
I think that what he is saying is that there have been about 600 threads started on here about people wanting to do a 2jz swap, and I don't think a single one ended up happening lol. I have seen one or two xrunners with 2jz swaps, but I think they were overseas and definitely not on this forum. I'd love to see it done, but like I said as far as I know, no one on this forum has done it.
There's one over in the Middle East somewhere. There's a video of it on YouTube doing donuts in a parking lot. I don't know how he didn't blow that thing up in that video, it was on the rev limiter the whole time Actually I could be wrong. That may be a regular Tacoma. So I don't know if I have seen a 2jz xrunner either. I think the one I'm thinking of is just a Tacoma.
