After the flogging she took on Facebook about coming to XF this year, me and the wife were talking about it --- and she realized that her brother's wedding is that week. Oddly enough though, it's on a Thursday (9/18). I don't know all of the details yet so I have changed my status to tentative. I still want to come but just have to see if I can work out the logistics of the trip with the timing of the wedding (which I obviously can't miss). And the wedding is south at the Outer Banks so if I have to come straight from there, it takes my trip from 6.5 hours from my house to 8.5 hours from OBX. :frown:

Most Canuck will drive around 7.5 hrs to get down for the party. Just don't drink to much on Thursday and stop at Starbuck and grab a good coffee and hit the road early in the morning.

We just need someone to sponsor it/put it together. Back when we did XFW we had Lenie, Spyder and quite a few others to help put it together. We don't know the areas well enough to organize anything.

Oh man, I know - I'm not really complaining about the distance just to get there. It's just a lot more driving than I'm used to and I'd be doing all of it alone (i.e. boring).

Wednesday night > drive 5.5 hours to OBX (I'd have to take the truck and my wife would have to drive the van with the kids = twice the gas)
Friday morning > she would stay at the beach, I would drive 8.5 hours to Camelback
Sunday > drive 4 hours to URD (was gonna make a visit while I'm up that way)
Monday > drive 4 hours back home
= 22 hours of driving in 6 days and would take 3 days of vacation. My daily commute is 8 minutes one-way. :laugh:

Gotta make sure I have enough vaca left to even take 3 days + have a couple days at EOY. We also have a trip planned with friends in a couple weeks and I'll need a day or two for that.

Just logged into our time system at work and looks like I have 8 days left (if it's accurate) so I should be good. Like I said, right now I'm still planning on coming. Just gotta see what the details are for the wedding to figure out if/when I can leave to head north.

Ok For those brining the mountain bikes what are we all riding? Downhill, XC, free ride? Anyone know good trails in the area. Trail maps at all? My full suspension is built for XC, I have to rent a downhill rig I have to rent a downhill rig. :smile:
