If you can find an ls3 rather than an ls2 it might be a better option. The ls2 was only made for a few years and the ls3 had a longer run giving it a few more options for adding things like an lsa supercharger. I also used a one piece aluminum driveshaft from a GMC Sierra, 05 I think, it's a cheap option for an aluminum one piece. And it is best to have it before you perform the swap. Probably the worst part of the whole swap is the rad support, I cut mine out and regretted it later. Try and decide what kind of accessory a you want to run before you start too.

I would highly suggest to find a full engine with ecm and accessory/pulleys. A donor car is a great option but if you go that route don't toss anything out till your done, even bolts came in handy.

From there it's just a matter of actually getting started and then a few of us are capable of providing lots of support.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing the swap. I would highly recommend it.

Yeah that would be COOL! Lol. What did you come up with? Mines been sleeping all winter and I'm itching to take her out for a rip
i had a guy make sub harness that controls the compressor and fans off a high/low pressure switch. no ecu needed. also got a block that goes on the compressor so i can make my own lines.

I've decided on sticking with the 1GR and doing the T56 swap. Transmission and swap kit should be in next week. How would I use a URD Stage 3 Clutch and 18lb flywheel with the T56?

Pretty sure you would have to buy a new clutch setup from URD the fly wheel should work just fine but the input splines on the t56 are different than the 1gr transmission. If you haven't already got the transmission it would be worth looking for a GTO t56. It has triple cone syncros in first and second. Makes for a nice shift.

What did you have in mind for connecting the lines to the stock firewall ports? I've seen some blocks for connecting to the ax compressor. Does the harness use the factory controls as head unit as well? Sounds interestig

no full standalone for a/c. the lines i can do two different ways. i was either gonna have my friend machine pieces to fit into the lines coming from the firewall or using the factory lines and cutting them and welding barbs onto the lines.

The transmission is already on its way. Brand new T56 Magnum with 2.66 1st gear. I read on a write-up here that I can use this :

Don't really know if it'll work as I have no experience with swaps and such.

Double check to see if the Earl's Performance hard fuel line(aluminum fuel line) fittings, or Aeroquip fittings will work first. Just an idea. Those, if the tube sizes are the same, would then mount to the lines coming out of the firewall. Then you could use soft A/C hose, to route it wherever you want.

ive looked into those before i may have to go this route if the cost of machining oring style fittings that go into the evaporator are too much

I performed a little weight reduction on the x last week.
-spare tire -58.8lbs
-jack/wrenches -5.2lbs
-rear floor mats and rear seat belts -7.2lbs
-a/c compressor (ls2 not 1gr) -18lbs

She weighed in at 3600lbs with 1/4 tank of gas so 3790 with me in it.

Also did some bracket racing this weekend. I'm really starting to get the truck dialed in, I will upload some videos when I edit them a little.

8.4 in the 1/8th mile. Should be good for around 13 flat in the quarter. The motor is stock and rated at 400hp
