Currently running dtlt and wanna install apr y pipe along 3" piping but don't want the loud exhaust noise that comes w deleting these cats.
How many mufflers, what size and type do i need to run with this setup to keep slighly louder then stock? Looking for setup quieter then dtlt, urd y-pipe, urd exhaust.

Your best bet is to go with your proposed setup (DTLT, APR Y) and add the URD MK2 exhaust plus an additional muffler or resonator. For sizes someone else will have to chime in.

I was thinking of running 14" front and 22" rear magnaflow mufflers. Not sure how loud that setup will be.

I have no experience with that setup. I know what the DTLT, URD Y, and URD MK1 Exhaust sounds like. Definitely not what you're looking for. I can get back to you in the spring about the difference with the MK2 exhaust. Akakrill just installed his but stores it for the winter. But I've heard really good things about the MK2 (with respect to tone).

I have DTLT Y pipe 14" oval magnaflow and 24" round magnaflow on TRD cat back and still it is loud planning on installing a 12" Magnaflow and header wrap DTLT and Y pipe for the sleeper status to kick in.
Yesterday I pulled a 50 - 100 the doors in on a 8 cyl Mustang it was brutal he had his windows down when I passed him and he heard the 4th to 5th shift and my truck is nasty loud LOL

I have Gen 2 DTLT, APR Y, Gen 1 URD 3" catback (20" lg Dynomax super turbo muffler).

This will be louder than you probably want. I added two 2 1/2" Magnaflo mini cats to the APR Y pipe. It tamed me just enough to be content. No second muffler.

If you have an URD Y pipe it is easier to add a second muffler. The APR Y pipe is a little more difficult to add a second muffler. This is provided you are adding the second muffler past the Y like most people do.

On the APR, you have a little less room to work with. Your muffler selection will have to be a short version.

Yes TunedX I plan on a sleeper;... totally, lower sound and go fast I am going to put in a third muffler as one of our other members did on XRU a white 4dr Taco I will ceramic wrap front headers to Y pipe to quiet and cool down downstairs.

I just wished that the APR Y pipe was a little differently manufactured like maybe a 14 gauge stainless intead of 18 gauge makes it very krackely and loud under your seat.... performance is unequal to any other its like an Old school Hooker header equal length primaries to the collector = extra power balance and cool sound....a header with equal size primaries will always have a crisp sound, APR is too thin of a material + loud..... great engineering on the size and curves but.....poor material walls , I will post pics and sound clip soon all I want is quiet deep sound and that all folks!!!

Plan was to add 14" and 22" magnaflow muffler after the apr y-pipe. I'm lookin for something little louder then stock, more noticeable when u mash the throttle. Coupe any chance u could upload some vid clips of your setup idle, some accel vids inside and outside the cab please? Also did the mini cats hindle performance in any way? I wanna get this truck sounding perfect before trd boost is added.

Might consider sound deadening your cab especially the floor. This will definetly eliminate road noise and help if u plan on upgrading your system. Please post some exhaust clips please or anyone else with dtlt, apr y pipe.

Thks

I will try to get some sound clips this week end. I ran a dyno pull before & and after the mini cats on an URD Y pipe. I really saw no change by ading the mini cats. I would say it would be no different than adding an additional muffler.

This is the results of a dyno pull before & after adding mini cats on an URD Y pipe. I plan to do one with APR pipe soon.

Whats the difference between adding two high flow cats and second muffler? Does it provide the same charastics to reduce sound? Which one would be the way to go to reduce noise?

Very interesting and not stupid....so adding another muffler and insulation is going to do it for me hardly any power loss :canada:

In my case, the difference came down to space. Min cats are smaller than mufflers and do not greatly impede flow.

Running the mini cats w apr y-pipe going to sound the same as stock y-pipe in terms of loudness.? I figure the first step is to get the apr y-pipe quiet like stock y-pipe and then work on the catback from that point.

The APR with mini cats are a lot louder than a stock Y pipe with cats.
