There is no magical "cams add x horsepower" answer. All of them are different, some add torque, some add hp, some add it high up in the rpms, some add it down low. It all depends on the cam profile.

You have to pull the timing cover.

The first version of the 1GR had slimmer VVTi gizmos. The 05+ version where much thicker. You cannot get them off the cam and the chain off without removing the cover. It is close,,,,,, but just not enough room.
