I know its been discussed before and that the speed governor on our trucks are 126 mph, but has anyone tried removing it or are there any products out there that are been developed (*hint* *hint*)

As far as I know, there isn't a speed governor. It's the gears that causes you to stop at 125 mph.

No there is an electronic governer...theres another post on here about it. you can hit 125 in 5th and have another gear to go. The tacomas are governed to 105 the x is to 125 or 126..

There is a governor. You can go faster than 125. You can actually go about 130 + Just don't shift in 6th. Keep it in 5th.

I think if we ever find out a way to remove the governor our trucks would have a legitimite chance of keeping up with other cars all the way

I think it's federally mandated for production (not lambos or exotics) to be limited to 112. I dunno. I know my Civic with a B16 stopped @ 112, So I found Apexi made a rev/speed meter that displayed revs and vehilce speed. In the instructions, it showed how to wire it up to defeat the govenor. Maybe it will work on the X.:dontknow: Just a thought. Hi Kyle, got your antenna. BBQ?

I know the regular Tacomas 4.0 1GR-FE shut down at 115 MPH but from what Ive noticed on my X-R and a friend of mine that I work with we have never got ours to shut down and I know that mine and his also the speedometer needle will go almost all the way around back to 0 on the speedo head I really couldn't say how fast that is and I know that you can't just add MPH to it by guessing, Has anybody else noticed this on there's?

just out of curiosity...

is there really a point to needing to go faster than the speed governor will allow?

i mean seriously, i wish the governor was set at 90.

yea, for me anyway. I take the Autobahn to work. Anyone know what would happen if you put a toggle switch inline with the VSS and disconected it when you want to go fast.

normal driving i dont need to go above 90. if i want to freeway race, i get beat at the top end because it cuts out at 125mph.

as clogged as the freeways are in cali I guess you couldn't get above 60 without the prics in blue on your rear, besides the only ones going faster than 60 are the car jackers!! lol! here in florida you can still get passed by someone , :top: doing 90 mph.
